Port Lincoln Police Constable Mike Smith said parents provided much of the initial education for young drivers, even though they may not have an up to date knowledge of the road rules and often underestimate the risks that young drivers face. more on this story: Parents returning driving schools.

Free Defensive Driving Classes
Monday, June 16, 2008

The Delaware Safety Council is offering safe-driving courses for 16-year-old and 17-year-old drivers this summer free-of-charge to the first 100 teenagers who register in each of the state's three counties. "It is clear that young drivers who take a defensive driving course realize an immediate improvement in their safety awareness as drivers, effectively reducing their likelihood of being involved in a traffic accident," said Harry Roosevelt, executive of the Delaware Safety Council.
The courses will be offered in each of the three counties on a first-come, first-served basis.
